April 17th 2020

Hello everyone,

Thank you for such a great first week of online learning! Everyone has learned so much this week!

Starting next week, our kindergarten small group meetings will be on Tuesday/Wednesday and Thursday/Friday! I love seeing and being able to talk to everyone!

If your child can read all of the sight word list that they are on, please send me a video of them reading all of the words and I will send you the next list!

Please be on the lookout for our Alphabet Countdown for the year :) I started this last year and it was so fun so I'm adapting it to work for our online education!

Thank you to Jimi Wethor and Sarah Brown for collecting money for the foundation auction basket! Extra special thanks to Jimi Wethor for helping with our flower pots and thank you to everyone who donated!

Please make sure to send library books back on Tuesdays!

There is no kindergarten on March 27th for Kindergarten Round-Up!

Please sign up for conferences if you have not yet-  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a094ea5a92da4fc1-kindergarten4

Class t-shirt Order Forms went home today. Please be sure to send this back ASAP- Tuesday at the latest. We will wear these shirts for field trips (one in May and one at the end of March) and special school events such as the last day of school and lap-a-thon! These shirts are extra special because each child gets to draw a picture of themselves for the shirt!

Please make sure your child does not bring toys from home in their backpack. This has been a problem lately. Thank you!

Valentine's Day Information

We will be celebrating Valentines Day on Friday, February 14th. Please help your child by decorating a shoe size box to collect their cards! Please make sure to leave a good size slot for cards to be put into and removed! Boxes can be brought to school as early as February 12th and must be at school for the party on February 14th. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Your child may bring class Valentines, as long as there is one for each child in the class. Your child writing each students name on the Valentines is a great way to practice writing at home! Here is a list of all of the kindergarten students:

-100th Day of School Snack Sign Up:
Please consider donating an item for our 100th day of school snack!

-A note from the room parent- Jimi Wethor:
The St. Malachy Gala is quickly approaching on February 29, 2020. The kindergarten class is responsible for contributing an item to the silent auction. Ms. Riley and I have decided on a fun project that the kids will do! We are going to be decorating flower pots with all the kids' hands and signatures on it. We thought that would be a fun and creative way for the kids to be involved and for parents to plant flowers to set out :) Please feel free to donate as little or as much as you are able to. We will use the money for the flower pots and the supplies. I request this donation by January 31st. Donations can be sent to school with the kids in an envelope labeled "kindergarten silent auction".

-Catholic School Week Sign Up:
The Kindergarten, first, and second grade are getting plans made for Catholic School's Week.  On Monday, January 27th, the teachers go out for lunch (thank you PTO) and parent volunteers are needed to be with the students.  You will be in charge of the students during the lunch period and after they eat.  Here is a sign-up link to volunteer.

-Catholic School Week Info:

Monday- The dress theme is to wear St. Malachy Colors! Parents of our school are covering the noon lunch and recess schedule (please volunteer if you can!) and the teachers will enjoy a lunch away from school. A SACK LUNCH IS NEEDED THIS DAY!

Tuesday- The dress theme is pajamas! Talent Show! There will be a show at 10 am and one at 1 pm.

Wednesday- The dress theme is era/decade day! Kindergarteners will meet up with their Angel and make Valentines Day cards for service men and women.

Thursday- YMCA Day. Please be sure to read the yellow note for a schedule. For your child to participate, they need to bring $2 and the green Field Trip Permission Form (both sides filled out). A SACK LUNCH IS NEEDED THIS DAY!

Friday- Dress your Best Day! Please be sure to return the blue half sheet that tells me who your child is bringing to mass! Your child will meet their special guest at Holy Spirit around 1:10 pm and will be in charge of getting your child home after mass. Mass will begin at 1:30 and there will be a reception in the church basement after!
